LUCY AND SAM’S PERFECT BRAINS
I would follow Tim Key off the edge of a cliff, and I’m really glad that I did. This podcast is exactly that. This week, he was the guest on Lucy and Sam’s Perfect Brains and what a gloriously chaotic podcast it is. Lucy Beaumont and Sam Campbell are both eccentric, idiosyncratic performers individually, but together they’re positively unhinged. There isn’t a concept; each episode is entirely different, and there’s a tendency for one anecdote to begin before the last one is finished - but none of that matters when you have such brilliantly surreal, hilarious, and charming hosts. What a breath of fresh air.

PEACEMAKER: THE OFFICIAL PODCAST WITH JAMES GUNN
For anyone who enjoys hearing television writers analyse their work, HBO has created another show to rival The Last of Us companion podcast. Peacemaker: The Official Podcast is hosted by giddy showrunner James Gunn, alongside his partner (and actor in the show) Jennifer Holland, the always great-value Steve Agee, and a rotating cast of special guests. It’s clear just how much the team loved making this series, and their enthusiasm is infectious. Rarely does a podcast like this deepen your appreciation of the source material as effectively as this one does. Like much of Gunn’s work, it’s unexpectedly touching too. In the final episode, Gunn breaks down as he reveals that a particularly poignant monologue in the show is directly related to his late father. It’s a beautiful listen that reframes a key moment in the season finale.
